Frequently Asked Questions
Does Coastal Essentials replace my primary care doctor? No. Coastal Essentials is designed for urgent and acute care. Many of our members keep their existing primary care relationships and use Coastal Essentials for the moments when their regular doctor isn't available. If you'd like comprehensive primary care included, the Coastal ExecutivePlan combines both.
Is this covered by insurance? The membership fee is not billed to insurance. Some patients use HSA or FSA funds for the membership. If a visit results in a prescription medication or referral to another doctor, your existing insurance can be used for those services.
What if I need emergency hospital care? Your physician will coordinate directly with the appropriate hospital and can advocate for you during your stay.
Where do you provide visits? We provide in-home visits across San Diego County including Coronado, La Jolla, Del Mar, Encinitas, Point Loma, Carmel Valley, Rancho Santa Fe, and East County.
How quickly can a doctor see me? Same-day or next-day in-home visits are typical. For immediate questions, your physician is reachable directly by text or phone.
